The Amazing thing about any religion is its history. The Christian Religion is full of history. If you study the history of the church and the decisions made by its leaders you begin to think, perhaps the "Scriptures" of today are not the only true documents of the true Christian faith. How it is that the Council of Nicaea became the absolute authority on what was and was not "inspired"? Why do we so truly hold to these New Testament documents and not the others. Perhaps there is some truth to the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Philip, or even the Gospel of Mary.
When someone reads these document, they begin to think how religion can simply be the minds creation. These documents are normally poorly interpreted. How is it that Christians are taught so much about truth, but they so often are not told to truly seek for the truth. Open up a book and study. Read for yourself. Don't smply take other people's word.

Freedom
American's pride themselves in their rights and freedoms. However, they are also quick to rob themselves of their freedoms by locking themselves into a religion. These religions place limitations and requirements on these individuals. If you are willing to sacrifice your freedoms and liberties to a religion, make sure that this faith is worthy of laying yourself on its sacrifice table. Many blindly follow. What is wrong with simply opening your eyes and looking around.
This lack of searching is not a lack of ability, but rather an abundance of slothfulness.
Americanism- What is it? Every American, native or immigrant, has embrased this religion. It is the religion which finds its keystone scripture in the Declaration of Independence. All Americans claim the salvation promised in "the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." However, this is also the single most misunderstood religion in the world by its own followers. For this post I want to focus in on the last phrase, "pursuit of happiness." What is happiness? For most Americans it is the posession of that item that brings joy or relief. However, this is not the true meaning of the happiness. According to Carl Becker, Jefferson originally intended the idea of Happpiness to be understood as benevolence. What an amazing idea. If we truly want to find happiness for ourselves we should help others. "No man is an island." No happiness is found alone. Most religions have this idea right. Most religions support and encourage benevolence. The problem is that in America, believers of various faiths believe their false understanding of Americanism more than they believe their own faith, which probably teaches the true Americanism in its core.
If you believe a specific faith, make sure that your national religion does not contradict you private faith. If you examine Americanism closely you will see that the founding fathers saw true benefit for the country to be filled with believers.

To Believe or Not To Believe, That is the Question
What is the purpose of faith. We love to feel a sense of belonging and a place of meaning. However, just because we feel this need does it mean that we need religion. People explain the reality of God and the hope they find in their faith through the explanation that a whole lies within them and the only thing that will fit it is God. However, this is not true. Unbelievers and believers, alike, have a sense of belonging. We all want to feel excepted and a place a purpose, but we all fill this need in different way. Some fill it with church, others with family, still others with drugs, ect. We all have needs. Both those needs do not prove the existence of a single, universal fulfillment of that need. Perhaps the greatest need we have is the need for answers. I hope that I can be the mean by which some fill that need. Perhaps asking the right questions can help others fill their needs and provide me with a sense of purpose and fill an emptiness that exists in me. Feel free to post any comments or questions that this post has raised in you.

We must question.
Everyone must question their faith. Without the questions everyone would simply follow the faith of their fathers. This is occurring too often in the world today. We have so many people that are unwilling to ask the difficult questions. I have and will continue to ask the questions that many fear. We must start with BIG question that hangs on the ledge of every believers mind. Is there a god? So many people point to the stars and trees and animals. That is not an answer that settles the mind. That only distracts us from the question. Of course the world is hear as a sign of a god if you believe in a god. It is also a sign of the big bang theory if you believe it. However, what evidence do we have to display the existence of a god? Some people speak of an experience they have had with god. This is no more evidence that if Bubba tells the news reporter that he was abducted by aliens and they stuck probes inside his anal cavity. This is simply a delusional person sharing delusions. Why should we believe a feeling or hallucination that you experience. Once again I ask, "What evidence is out there to show there is a god?" Feel free to post and share your opinions, but try to support with facts not just feelings or stupidity.
